Service to the Military -- By working with the local Senior Center, we have been sending packages to a Corps of Engineers Battalion in Afghanistan for several years now.
We assist with gathering, packaging and shipment of these items.
Service to our communities --We participate in various patriotic functions and town functions within the Tri-Town and Carbon Valley area. Our Color Guard was in the Fourth at Firestone, the Veterans Day Parade in Longmount, the Homecoming Parade for Mead High School, and the Mead Christmas Parade of Lights. We also provided flag raising ceremonies for the majority of the Mead H.S. home football games.
We are also active in the Carbon Valley Veterans Memorial Park planning, as well as being active with the Frederick Miners Day activities.
we continue to look for other opportunities to assist our community in whatever manner is appropriate for the charter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Service to our Veterans --Through our Buddy Poppy Drives, we collect donations to hep support veterans in need in our area. When we hear of veterans, either within our Post or in the local area, we provide some financial aid from the monies raised.
We also try to help our veterans with their application for benefits. Our Service Officer can help you begin your application, and then help forward it to the Department Service Office.
How you can help -- By becoming a member of our local VFW Post, you can assist us not only with our current service work, but by becoming active in several of our committees or Post Board positions. You DO NOT have to be a member to volunteer to help with our events.
We need assistance in the following areas:
Buddy Poppy Drives
and other events that may be brought up by members.
